Veuve Clicquot Demi Sec 750ml

Founded in 1772, Veuve Clicquot has since lived by its motto, "Only one quality, the finest". Veuve Clicquot Demi-Sec is perhaps the Houses most historic champagne, as until the early 1900s, there was a definitive preference for sweeter champagnes. The signature Pinot Noir dominates (40-45%). Then a higher level of Meunier than in Yellow Label (30-35%), and Chardonnay (20-25%) complete the blend, contributing its special freshness and silkiness. No fewer than 50 individual wines make up this cuve. The inclusion of 30 to 45 % of reserve wines ensures the consistency of the Veuve Clicquot style. These wines are kept apart, each one cellared individually, as befits its origin and age. The level of dosage - 45 g/l decided at the moment of disgorgement - results in a sweeter balance of flavors, while preserving the wines inherent freshness. On the nose : it is rich in the scents of tropical and candied fruits with hints of toast and brioche. On the palate : aromatic intensity & silkiness, aromas of ripe fruits. After additional cellaring (two to three years, or even more in the right conditions), Demi-Sec will develop yet richer notes of praline or toast. It is then ideal with caramel-based or praline-based desserts. Do not hesitate to serve Demi-Sec from a decanter, as they did in Madame Clicquots time. A few minutes in a previously chilled decanter will allow the wine to show off its rounded flavor, and all the splendor of its golden hue.
