Libero Brunello Di Montalcino 2018 750ml

Libero Brunello di Montalcino is a testament to the diverse microclimates and terroirs within Montalcino. The wine is crafted from 100% Sangiovese grapes sourced from estate vineyards located in two distinct microclimates. The 1.3 hectares on the northern side of Montalcino provide a cooler microclimate, while the 3.5 hectares in the south-facing subregion of Castelnuovo dell'Abate enjoy a sunnier disposition. The Castelnuovo vineyards, situated at 290-330 meters above sea level, boast greater geological diversity and superior drainage than their northern counterparts.
Alcoholic fermentation takes place in both stainless steel and concrete tanks, ensuring a balanced and nuanced expression of the Sangiovese grapes. The wines from the two vineyards are aged separately in used French oak and large, Slavonian oak casks for two years. The final blend is carefully crafted from six different barrels, resulting in a wine of depth, complexity, and character.
In the glass, Libero Brunello di Montalcino reveals a dense, dark red color, hinting at the richness within. The nose is greeted with powerful, round notes of liquorice and ripe black cherry. On the palate, the wine is juicy, spicy, and brimming with dark fruit flavors. Smooth and elegant tannins contribute to a well-structured mouthfeel, and the finish is enduring with a delightful nuttiness.
This Brunello di Montalcino is a versatile companion to a range of culinary delights. It pairs seamlessly with both hard and soft cheeses, charcuterie, tomato dishes, and legumes. Its robust character also complements heartier fare, including lamb, game, duck, and beef.
