Val delle Rose presents the Poggio al Leone Morellino di Scansano Riserva, a distinguished red wine under the Morellino di Scansano DOCG appellation. Situated at an elevation of 150 meters, the vineyard boasts feldspathic quartz sandstone soil, predominantly siliceous. The vines, with a density of 5000 per hectare and a yield of 4 tonnes, undergo spurred cordon pruning. Crafted through traditional red wine vinification, the grapes experience temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation at 26°C, with the process lasting 15 days for optimal extraction. The wine matures for 12 months in barriques followed by a minimum of 8 months in the bottle. The result is an intense ruby red hue, accompanied by a bouquet that of ripe fruit characteristics distinctive to Sangiovese in Maremma. This Riserva is 100% Sangiovese and is well-structured and full-bodied. It pairs seamlessly with hard cheese, charcuterie, red meat, pork, beef, duck, and gamey meats.
